SA FIRE SERVICES HISTORY

From the early 1800's South Australia's fire service originally started with men who had predominantly Navy or Army experience.

The South Australian Fire Brigade was formed in 1860 

From its headquarters in Wakefield Street, Adelaide which was opened originally in 1892 and utilising hand drawn and horse drawn appliances and steam pumpers, 110 years later sees a modern well equipped fire service, with multiple appliances and specialist vehicles to provide a emergency fire service to South Australia
